Hi, I’m Kim, the owner (and biggest fan) of Dottie’s Ice Cream Truck.
In 2019, I was laid off from my job in the telecommunications industry. After years of working in the corporate world, I suddenly had to figure out what came next.
My husband was incredibly supportive and encouraged me not to just find another job, but to figure out what I would actually love to do.
The only problem was, I had absolutely no idea what that was.
Then one sunny day, while sitting outside with my mom and some friends (6 feet apart, of course), someone asked, “Why don’t we have ice cream trucks around here anymore?”
And apparently, that was all it took.
I went home, started researching, and before I knew it, I was looking for an ice cream truck.

2019
Laid off from my "real job".
A couple weeks of searching later, I found the perfect ice cream truck for sale in North Carolina.
The truck was already named Dottie, after the former owner’s mom. My Gram was Dottie too. Seriously, what were the chances?
And just like that, Dottie was on her way home to Gray, Maine.
After seven years in Gray, Dottie is heading to Harrison for her next adventure.
In 2027, Dottie turns 8. And I still can’t believe this is my job.
And Here We Are...
Somewhere along the way, Dottie became a whole lot more than the ice cream truck I went looking for back in 2019.
Seven years later, we’ve been part of birthdays, schools, camps, weddings, businesses and community events all over Maine.
Now Dottie is heading to Harrison for her next adventure.
Same Dottie. Same me. Still can’t believe this is my job.
